“Be loyal to your Alma Mater, renew past, cherished and perhaps long-forgotten acquaintances, and endeavour to maintain cordial relations with your former teachers and school mates… . It is a link with the past…..... It is a help for the future…..”

This was the message sent to all Old Boys of the College by the Founder President of the Old Boys’ Union, Rev Bro Luke Gregory, who has been to many generations of Old Lasallians, an inalienable part of the Old School.

Rev Bro Luke Gregory inaugurated the Union on February 03rd  1929, in the presence of about 100 Old Boys and Teachers. Most of those original members of the Union have now gone for their reward, but during these 74 years, the Union has extended its fullest co-operation to the College authorities, true to its motto: to promote fellowship among the Old Boys of De La Salle College, and to contribute to the encouragement of studies, games, etc; among the present boys. 

When look upon the years which have now faded into history, we feel a sense of pride in having succeeded during this three quarter century. Our old Boys have never turned a deaf ear to the requests the College has made to them  from time to time in connection with such functions as Sports Meet, College Day, Teachers Day, Parents Day and Prize Giving. They are also ready to rally round to show their appreciation of services of former Directors or Teachers.

Times may change, and new generations may come and go, but De La Salle will go on forever. She must go on, growing richer and stronger, because she will have to face bigger and harder problems in the future. She must have all the support and loyalty of her Old Boys, all the keenness of her Students, all the enthusiasm and goodwill of her Staff to carry on the good work, which she cannot and must not fail. 

This is an appeal to all Old Boys of De La Salle to rally round the Old School. She is calling us all and we cannot ignore that call. It is the call of the Mother to the scattered family for one grand re-union whose joyous conviviality must resound through the next hundred years.
